usb updates

my windows xp has 1.1 usb.I want to buy a dvd handycam
that uses 2.0 usb.how can i upgrade my p/c.I thought
windows sp1 did that & if it does how can i check it.

yes, you can check this in System in Control Panel.. In the top center of
the System applet it sez (tab) hardware...Click Device Manager...... Scroll
down to USB.... Open the tree and look for the word 'enhanced ' or enhanced
controller and that will tell you you have USB 2.0 support thru SP1 update..

1. You need the WinXP SP1 update to get USB2 drivers
2. You will need to buy a USB2.0 card and fit it to you computer. If you
have a laptop you can buy a Cardbus card with USB2.0 ports.

A common misconception is that USB1.1 can be upgraded to USB2.0 by software.
To "upgrade" to USB2.0 requires both software and hardware.
