USB Troubles

I'm working on my sister's Dimension E510 (O/S ix XP MC). Right off the bat
I had to go buy a new KB and mouse as this system does not have any PS2
connections. So, I bought a new MS Wheelmouse Optical, and a Microsoft
Digital Media Pro Keyboard. (My sister lives elsewhere so I didn't have
access to hers.)

I've completed "fixing" the system and want to make a ghost image but am
having trouble. Ghost give me a warning about the KB and Mouse - they may
not be available and I should load drivers. My Jump drive, also USB, is
available. The only difference I can see is that the warnings list my Jump
drive as USB 2.0 and the others as 1.1.

I decided to ignore the warnings and true to the warning I don't have a KB
or mouse once Ghost boots it's partition. Since the Image spans several CDs,
I need to be able to use a KB to tell it that I've loaded the next CD for it
to write to.

I went to properties of the KB and Mouse and found their drivers. Both has
a class.sys and a hid.sys. I loaded all 4 files for Ghost to have available.
I also loaded a USB driver from windows hidusb.sys.

The BIOS does not have any settings for KB and Mouse to enable USB so I'm
not missing anything there.

I'm thinking now that I neeed to load something for USB 1.1 since these
devices seem to be presenting that. They are listed with 1.1 and don't work.
The Jump drive is listed as USB 2.0 and does work.

Can anyone help me with getting these new devices to work?

Yikes! I had lots of mistakes/typos in that message. I can’t find an edit
function; please accept my apologies.

What about trying a basic no frills keyboard and a wired mouse?

The two that I bought we there most basic wired ones that I could find. I
didn't want to go "non branded" b/c I'd not know if any problems were related
to quality vs other issues like this.
