USB Storage Devices

I'm having a problem with USB storage devices... Maxtor 300GB external,
SanDisk 1GB Thumb, and some other random Thumb drive. All the drives
work fine on other machines. USB Mice and Keyboards work fine. When
you plug in a drive it assigns it a drive letter but when you go into
explorer and click on it it says it's not accessable. If you go into
Disk Management it's not even showing up in there and in Device Manager
it recognizes the device and says it's working. Any ideas???

Even though windows recognized the drive, you can't use it yet. You still
have to partition and format the drive. with the Maxtor do this:
Open the computer managment: start - run - type: compmgmt.msc and click ok.
select disk managment option - you will see the drive with th unallocated
option, right click and choosee new partition and the wizard opens fallow the
instructions.
