USB Scanner

I have installed a Epson RX500 Printer/Scanner on my Sony
Desktop running W2K. The printer works fine, but the
scanner does not. The system sees the scanner hardware
under Control Panel/Scanner & Cameras, but none of my
programs do. Any ideal on why none of my programs see the
scanner?
 
I have the same problem and have yet to figure it out. I
am currently jumping through Epson Tech support loops and
they still ahve no idea either. Has anyone else figured
this out?
