USB removable drives not recognized as disk drives!

I seem to have a problem with removable USB storage devices which
include a removable 'pendrive', my Zip 100 Drive and a generic flash
card reader. Although the USB mass storage device loads properly, in
device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark in the disk drive
section, with the errant device listed with a code 10 error which
still remains after rebooting.

I have plugged these devices into the back of my computer, rather than
in a hub, loaded Iomega software and checked all connections but the
problem still remains.

My non-mass USB storage devices work OK

Any ideas?

I had similar problems with a MSI mother board computer
and I resolved the problems by updating to the latest USB
drivers from the mother board manufacturer.
