Hello, Not sure if this is the right place for this
question, but I hope someone can help. Two weeks ago I
upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro (primarily for security
enhancements) on my two month old Dell Inspiron laptop.
Generally the upgrade went smoothly, but much to my
dismay and disappointment two USB devices that had run
perfectly on XP Home will no longer run under XP Pro.
They are my old but venerated Handspring Visor Deluxe
using the Palm OS, and my Nikon CoolPix 2500 digital
camera. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the
software for each, but no go. Windows doesn't seem to
see the hardware, and I can't even make it look for it.
No new hardware wizard pops up, and I don't know what to
do. Naturally I've contacted both Palm and Nikon, but
we've yet to resolve the problem. Can anyone help here?
For what it is worth, I've not yet tried any NEW USB
devices, but I do have a flash drive on order, and when
it arrives it will be interesting to see if XP will
recognize it as something it has never seen, or if the
USB ports are somehow wonky. BTW, everything looks fine
in the Device Manager, in that nothing has a question
mark or exclamation point on it.
Thanks-
