USB printing problems

I have installed the software for my lexmark Z707 photo printer
this was done in compatibility mode for Win XP sp2 The installation went
very well with no errors and the software works just fine
However I have no communications through the usb port why is this ??
FYI the printer is connected directly to the PC not through a hub

Does anybody else have this problem

Hi,

Does the printer is detected when you plug in the USB cable ? If the printer
is showing online and not printing, its either the USB cable or the drivers
problem.

yes it's detected correctly when plugged in, but it's not in the list of
lexmark drivers that are built into Vista
and loading the XP drivers in compatibility mode works but there is no usb
comms
