USB ports quit

Not true actually the USB ports stopped working for plug in flash drives and
external hard drives. The printer and mouse attached to the USB ports still
work OK. If anyone know how to troubleshoot this, I'd appreciate the help.

"Stopped working" in not very specific at all.

In case that you get a "STOP 0x0000007E" error message (BSOD) when
plugging-in an USB mass storage device, uninstall the optional update
KB918005(v4) if recently installed.

But it should be fairly easy to understand what this means as it happens far
too often with Windoze XP. There's a major flaw in XP as to how it handles
USB2 devices, in particular attached drives. XP gets "confused" and
eventually stops recognizing the devices. Happens all the time! So don't
act like this is some kind of new thing that's never been heard of before.
Eventually MickeyMouse may get it right, but I have my doubts.

Cheers.

not recognize it"

Make sure that the latest service pack (SP2) has been installed.
