USB ports not working to USB 2.0

Ok, Have been everywhere and talked with several people, none of whom could
fix this problem. I am running a Sony Vaio PCV RS630g with 7 USB 2.0 ports.
They all worked as advertised until recently when I began getting the error
message that the USB device would work faster if used in a hi-speed USB port.
I get the same message for each of the 7 ports. In device manager I only
have the standard generic host controllers.....anyone have any idea what
happened?

System Properties, Environment Variables, Add a System Level
DevMgr_Show_NonPresent_Devices and set it's value = 1.
Click Start, Run (Type) DevMgmt.Msc [Press Enter]
Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers category. Locate any
entries shown diminished or grayed out. Right Click each one &
take Uninstall. Reboot and Recheck for an "Enhanced" controller.

Did as you suggested, nothing was greyed out or diminished. The only USB
controllers were 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller

and there were 4 of them.........I would suspect I don't have USB 2.0
functionality if I had not had it earlier and the Sony specs say there are 7
2.0 ports on this computer.

thanks for the help

No problem - One other thing, some BIOS setups have a USB
setting where you can select which mode(s) of USB to enable. You
might check your BIOS setup and make sure that USB is not set to
only "Legacy" mode.
