USB Portable Drive

Hi, I have a 50 GB USB Portable Drive which works well when plugged in but if
I have to restart the computer the drive is not detected. I have to unplug it
and plug it again.

Is this normal or do I have a problem? If it's a problem any ideas how to
correct it.

Is it actually not detecting it, or is it simply not showing up in
Explorer? Is it visible in Disk Management? It could be that when you
reboot with it plugged in, it is being assigned the same drive letter as
something else (this happens in certain cases). If so, you could try
reassigning the letter in Disk Management - if you make the drive a higher
letter than everything else, it should get that letter again.
