Windows 2000 Svc Pack 4 eject usb/phd problem

JackG

Plugged in new 320 G portable hard drive to USB port and successfully backed
up my data. There is no eject Icon and when I go to add/remove hardware and
follow the wizard, it doesn't show the portable hard drive that I want to
eject.

Any suggestions?

Try opening the hotplug.dll with this command and see if the drive is
abailable for removal. In the Start menu Run box enter:

RUNDLL32 SHELL32.DLL,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

Windows 2000 does support this option. But some systems did have
problems with this and Microsoft did make a hotfix available for these
systems that have problems listing some devices.

I'd go to the manufacturer's web site and get the latest driver for the USB
cartridge.
