USB PORT NOT APPEARING IN EXPLORER

My digital camra will not appear in Windows Explorer as a drive like it has
before. Error Message in Windows reads: An error occurred during
installation of this device. The installation failed because a function
driver was not specified for this device instance.

The device has worked before. I made the mistake of unplugging it before
stopping the device in Windows. I re-installed the device driver. The
device driver seemed to install correctly and ask for a reboot. I did so,
but the error message is still there and the USB port will not appear in
Explorer. The "Unplug or Eject Hardware" icon appears on the active programs
bar when I plug in the device, suggesting to me that I have communication
from the device through the port, but opening the icon and clicking on the
properties shows the Device Status as "The drivers for this device are not
installed (Code 28).

have you tried to connect the device to another port and reinstall the
drivers?
