USB icon missing in Taskbar

Please help, I have lost my USB icon in the task bar and can no longer
"Stop" the USB before ejecting from the port. All USB devices run properly,
but I no longer have the icon. I'm running Windows 2000 pro W/ SP4.

thanks for any help you can supply.

Hi Vince,

If rebooting the computer did not restroe the icon, then try this:
While the computer is running just fine, pull a USB cord out of its
socket. Windows *"should"* give you a warning box with the title
"unsafe removal of Device. When that box appears, check to make sure
that the checkbox titled: "Show Unplug/Eject icon on the taskbar" is
checked. Make sure the box IS checked, close it, restart your machine
and the icon should appear in your taskbar.

This "Show Unplug/Eject icon on the taskbar" checkbox probably appears
somewhere else in Windows, like maybe in the Control Panel or
"Add/Remove Hardware"...but I don't know where it appears.

Hope that helps.
