USB pen drive stopped responding

Hi all.

My USB pen drive (Kingston 512MB DataTraveler) has suddenly stopped
responding. This perhaps happened after I removed it from the PC's USB
port without following the procedure for "Safely remove
hardware" (WinXP), which I normally follow except this time. While I
regret my action, can someone please suggest how to get the data from
this pen drive, as it has a lot of important data. When I insert the
pen drive, it is neither detected, nor the light on the pen drive
blinks. I have tried this pen drive on multiple PCs but same problem.
Also, my other pen drives are working properly on this PC. Any
suggestions are most welcome.

Hi,

I am having the same problem. My flash drive (and mp3) doesnt work,
but if I try to play music (using its mp3 player) it works, I think it
is a good thing because the files hasnt been deleted.

If anyone can help too...

Try it on another computer.

If it works, copy off the data.

If it doesn't, it's toast and you'll need to
pay a data recovery service to see if there's
anything they can to with it.

Thankyou for the reply.
As noted in my query, I have already tried the pen drive on other PCs,
but no success.

Can anyone please suggest any free tool or software which can recover
my data? If free software is not available, please could you suggest
some reliable paid service?
Thanks
VJ
