USB Memory on XP (again!)

Seems to me the problems haven't be answered. The problems are still
there. Just saying is's discussed in Google isn't an answer.

I have several USB memory devices. Ones that worked fine with W2K now,
at best, work sometimes under XP (pro). Often the PC freezes when the
device is inserted. Booting with the device installed helps sometimes,
but not always.

In one instance I have a machine that worked fine with the devices
under W2K. XP was installed (no other changes), and the same memory
stick now
doesn't work!

Sometimes the "new device" wizard will run (or we can run it). It'll
find the device, but then the install routinely fails.

After you installed WXP did you install your chipset drivers????
Are the USB ports checked to allow windows to turn them off to save
power????
