USB Keyboard not detected

im using windows 2003 enterprise edition. everytime i boot my computer,
windows does not detect my keyboard. when i went to device manager, i
saw an exclamtion point (!) on the HID Device, under the keyboard
section. what i did is uninstall it, then click the scan for new
hardware changes button. after that, i can use it again. my BIOS settins
are correct. the enable usb keyboard support and the assign irq for
usb... etc... are enabled. what will i do?

and also on my other computer, using an ps/2 mouse, windows 2000 pro
does not detect it. the scan for hardware changes does not work.

First, I don't even want to ask how legit that OS is. Second, you may
need to reinstall the software/drivers that came with it. Third, try
unplugging the mouse with the computer off, plug it back in snugly, then
turn on the computer (for the PS2 mouse) or plug it back in with the
computer running for the USB mouse. See if they work that way

For the PS/2 mouse, I suggest you upgrade. For the USB
Keyboard, look under your bios and make sure USB Keyboard
support is enabled. (under the other machine you may want
to check if USB mouse is enabled, and disable it if so)
