USB Keyboard doesn't work in startup

When I turn on my computer, it does not let me use the
keyboard for the advanced startup options. The keyboard
doesn't work until Windows XP Home Edition loads. In the
help and support, it told me to enable the USB Keyboard
Support feature in the BIOS. I don't know how to open BIOS
without a working keyboard at startup and I can't buy a
keyboard with a PS/2 connector because whenever I plug a
keyboard in that, it doesn't work and just says 304-
keyboad error. What do I do?

Greetings --

If you cannot enter the BIOS using a PS/2 keyboard because the
motherboard's PS/2 port has failed, you'll need to replace the
motherboard. Unless Legacy USB Support has already been enables in
the BIOS, a USB keyboard is useless until Windows and the requisite
USB drivers have loaded.
