USB Host Controller and what does OWC mean?

Whats the difference between Microsoft USB Host controllers and an (OWC)
controller and which is the latest one for use with Windows XP (Service Pack
2 installed)?
I have recently bought X-pert DVD Maker USB2.0 which comes with a cable and
installation CD (for connecting DVD machines or older camcorders etc).
The connection cable is USB2.0 Capture Box. When I put in the installation
CD for this, a message comes up that my USB Host Controller Driver is not up
to date. Fine. But when I look at the back of the instruction manual it says
Service Pack 1 should solve the problem. My question is:- what are the
lastest USB host controllers from Microsoft. Mine says they are OWC at the
moment. Should I let this update from this installation CD, or are they
behind and have I got a more uptodate one. I am confused. Does anyone out
there know anything about this or should I contact Microsoft?

thanks - I will try that. I was afraid to let the CD take over in case it
rendered my USB connections inoperable afterwards (esp the one connected for
my broadband internet connection!).
Of course if anything happens I can make a restore point and then get back
what I had before, cant I? Might be best if create a restore point anyway
