USB hardware issues setting up dailup networking.

I am attempting to use an external modem connected to my laptop (MAC) via a
usb port. I'm running Virtual PC 6 and the Windows 2000 Pro ver. as my OS.
The Virtual PC software sees my usb ports and shows they are working fine.
When I attempt to setup a dailup networking connection, the only options I
have to pick from are COM1 and COM2 there is no option to select the modem
connected to the USB port. Can someone help me resolve this issue?

Get rid of the USB modem. Not everything is going to recognize a USB device
as a legitimate modem.
