USB devices not automatically installed

Hi,

I have a Windows XP Home PC which will not automatically find and install
USB devices such as pen drive/camera.
Starting the installation wizard manually installs them fine.

Any ideas?
 
sometimes the computer will not tell you it has recognized the new usb
drive. it will just add the drive to a removable storage in My Computer.
ie (F:\)
my computer does that
