USB device not recognized

I am using a ps2 keyboard with a ps2 to usb adaptor and
connecting to a windows xp usb 2.0 port. I keep getting a
USB device not recognized error and the keyboard will not
work.

I have enabled legacy usb support in the bios but it
still has not made a difference.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Not every non-usb device would work just by placing an adapter. The PS/2
keyboard may not have the required electronics to tell USB how to set it up.

Have you tried launching the Safely Remove Hardware
program in the system tray. It doesn't actually list
anything in there but I feel just launching it makes my
keyboard and mouse spring into action.

Does your computer not have a PS/2 port for the keyboard?
