USB device errors

Hi All,

I'm having a weird problem with my Scandisk 512mb jump drive/mp3 player. I'm
running windows XP on a P4 system.

When I plug in the player, Windows finds the device and it displays properly
in Windows Explorer. The problem happens when I transfer files to the
player. Windows transfers the files OK, but then it immediately generates an
error message stating "The device cannot be found. Please insert a disk into
the drive." The device gets removed from Windows Explorer. I then have to
unplug it and then plug it back in.

Any ideas what the heck is going on? Thanks.

Make sure that the device works on another machine. The USB stick or
the USB port on your machine may have a problem with the connection of
the device.
Remove all instances (even hidden ones) of this device from the Device
Manager and then restart Windows. Plug in the stick again and retry.
