USB conected harddisk, please help........

Hello.
I have a 2.5" Hitachi Travelstar 40Gb external hardrive
and I'm trying to connect on my pc to the USB 2 port
(running XP-Home edition.It connects and recognizes it
and I see it with correct information in the device
manager.
But it does not show eiter on My Computer nor in the Disk
Manager.
What could be the problem, anyone got a clue ?

Won;t show till it is formatted.

But I cant format it when it doesn't appear in the Disk
Manager , so there must be something else ???
