USB Combo Card reader pauses XP startup

Hi, I'm having a strange problem. Just bought a "USB 2.0 Combo 23 in 1
card reader/3 port USB hub". All works fine when it is plugged into
the USB port on the computer while the computer is on. If I leave it
plugged in and turn the computer off, and then turn the computer back
on at any time, the combo thing pauses the computer startup at the bios
screen. As soon as I unplug the combo it resumes startup and loads
windows. Any ideas?? as I don't want to have to unplug the combo each
time I start up the computer.

Thanks
Alan

trust me you just may wanna kep doing that. i had the same issue a few
times. i had the issue with my laptop when i wads tyrying to use a IDE dvd
burner with it. i had it connected via usb. the only thing different is that
the dvd drive required more power then you usb device.in some cases it could
just be an issue with it and the bios. tell the pc manufacturer about it and
they may be able to help. i can help more but know the make and modle number
of your pc would be helpfull. and knowing whether its a desktop or a laptop
would be helpful as well.

Hello, thanks for the reply, the computer is a desktop, no specific
make or model, just usual pentium windows XP service pack 2 machine.
I'll try and get some more info (ie. bios details). I'm trying to help
a friend out here so havn't got ready access to their computer. I'll
get the info and re-post here. Thanks
