USB Card and ethernet card won't work.

I have just installed win xp pro. Everything went ok. I
then tried to install a 4 port USB 2.0 Belkin card. The
computer booted up to the sign on screen but then the
mouse froze and I couldn't do anything. Took the card
back out and all was OK.

Then tried an ethernet 10/100 card and exactly the same
happened. Mouse froze and couldn't do anything.

I have also tried the cards in the other spare slots and
exactly the same happenend each time. The mouse dosn't
freeze straight away but after a few seconds. Help please

Thankyou

You need to install Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows first. Then try
your USB card. It's best to do updates to the operating system before
you start adding in all kinds of hardware and software.

And you may need to do it with the complete, big 'Network' download or
from a CD. There is a catch with the Express mode and USB2 - it finds
no USB 2 hub around, so it does not get the drivers needed
