USB and display problems

Hi
I have a couple of problems with my system that I can not seem to sort out.
I am using a dell GX270 based system running XP Pro with both service packs
and all the regular updates.

My first problem is that sometimes on boot up my USB items are not
recognised, I need to unplug them and then plug them back in then all is
fine. This problem also occurs sometimes when I resume my system from sleep.
I have also noticed that on occasions whilst using a USB key, that I loose
the icon in "My Computer" and I am unable to access the key.

I initially thought that there was a problem with my system onboard USB
ports so I added a PCI card with extra USB Ports, but this has not improved
the situation.

My second problem is with the display, again on accasions my NEC TFT monitor
flickers and the display becomes very blocky.

I thought that maybe my on board graphics was on its last legs, (a common
problem with the GX270 I believe) so I installed a low end GeForce FX5500
graphics card. This seemed to work fine for a while, but I have noticed the
display problem is back again.

I would appreciate any assistance.

With all the symptoms you are describing, it looks more like your RAM
chips are ready to "bite the dust". Increase RAM may solve this
situation especially if your system uses shared video memory.

I have replaced the memory but I am still having problems.
The graphics card has 256MB of its own memory.
Have you any other ideas?
