USB 2.0 Root Hub shows as USB Root Hub in device manager

This is an annoyance rather than a problem. I have the
MSI K7N2 motherboard using the NVIDIA nForce 2 MCP-T
chipset with USB 2 support enabled in BIOS. all was well
until i did my regular reformat of my hard drive. Did a
clean install of XP pro, applied SP1, and installed the
latest chipset drivers. the USB controllers show as
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Controller, but the USB 2
root hubs still show as USB Root Hub. Tried to update the
driver for the hubs, but the option for USB " root hub is
not there. Until i did the re format and re install,
everything was hunky-dory.

any ideas? If anyone replies back with..."check the bios"
or "download latest chipset drivers" i'll shoot them!!!

Real help or ideas please!

TYI

Did you run the MB install CD?
Are there drivers for USB 2.0 in the CD?
Have you tried updating the drivers for USB from the
system properties / hardware?

If I'm not mistaken 'Standard Enhanced PCI to USB
Controller' means that USB 2.0 is installed properly.
at least on my computer.... :)

And since you already checked the BIOS, and have the
install CD for the MB, I won't say a word....

Declan,

do have a ignorant question. is the usb root hub for usb 2 supposed to
show up to say enhanced root hub as well?

when you say reformat, what do you mean? hard drive?

Yeah, I mean reformat the hard drive. Until the reformat,
they showed up as USB 2.0 Root Hub

Yeah, tried all that. It's not really a problem. the
hubs work properly at the correct speed. Any further
ideas?
