Urgent: WinXP file synchronization - Help!!!

K

Keith

I setup offline file synchronization with a network drive, but the synch ate
up my "system" hard disk. I would prefer to have the offline files stored
on my "data" (second) hard disk. How can I 1) remove these files from my
"system" disk and 2) make the Win XP synch utility use the "data" disk to
store offline files?

I need this resolved asap. Help!!!

Thanks and sorry for the urgency of this.

About SecondCopy....

I've a (reasonably) happy administrator using Offline Files on Windows 2000.

She's now asked whether she could just get a USB key disk and manage the
same process without having to bring her laptop in (it is her personal
laptop!) and synch it.

I've measured the size of the offline cache for the fileset she uses, and it
is around 256 megs--which is manageable in terms of cost for the device, I
think.

However, I'm 99.999% certain that the offline files feature isn't going to
cut it for this usage. What do you think about SecondCopy?

Yes indeed, I'd try it - there is a free 30 day eval (fully functional)
available for download, and it should work fine to a USB device like that -
to any drive, really. I'm really really happy with SC2000. I'm glad you've
had good offline files experience - I sure haven't. Too many clients have
lost data - generally, they were trying to sync TONS of network drives &
many nested subfolders...the nice thing about SC is that it's really easy to
manage & control. Have you played with it yet?

No - I just remembered that you had a favorite--didn't recall the name.
Will go look it up now--thanks!

No worries - hope you like it. I know I probably sound like a
cheerleader/cult member/paid shill. I'm definitely not the latter. ;-)
