Craig Thomas

So I reinstalled XP and had to reinstall Office w/ Outlook

I need to know how I can import the contacts list back into th
contacts area. Also, is there any way to retrieve old emails?

I have looked in every folder I can think of and can't find where th
contacts might be stored.

thanks for your help

It is stored in a pst-file. You can open this in Outlook by File-> Open->
Outlook Data File...

Make sure you include hidden and system files and folders when searching for
pst-file.

By default it is located in
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

You can also locate the file by using
Rightclick the root folder (probably Outlook Today)-> Properties-> button
Advanced-> field Filename

Ok, thanks. I found the .pst files.

However, it is in a hidden directory, so Outlook cannot locate th
folder when. It's in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Loca
settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

It's the Local Settings folder that is hidden.

Should I copy/move the file to an unhidden directory using Window
Explorer? (Think I may have just answered my own question.)

Trying that now....

Thanks!
