Make Contacts the default Address Book

Maurice IRL

I’m moving to a new PC. I’ve reinstalled MS Office (incl. Outlook 2002 SP3),
and copied Outlook.pst from the old PC. All my Outlook data is intact.
However, I cannot make Contacts the default address book. I have tried right
clicking on the Contacts folder, selecting Properties and the Outlook Address
Book tab, and ticking the ‘Show this folder as an email Address Book’ box,
with Contacts as the only option shown. This appears to work (no error
message), but when I try to use the address book to select a name in a new
email, I get the long error message ‘The address list could not be displayed.
.. . . See Microsoft Outlook Help’. When I click OK, the Select Name screen
appears, with no names visible, although Contacts appears in the ‘Show Names
from the:’ box. Then, when I look inside this box, I see three options:
Outlook Address Book, and two Contacts. Only the second of these Contacts
works, i.e. the full list of Contact names appears in the ‘Name’ box when I
select the lower Contacts from the ‘Show Names from the:’ box. How can I make
the corrects Contacts the default address book, please?

Open the Address Book, then select Tools->Options. Select the contacts
folder that you want to remove and hit delete.
