URGENT: Popup windows not working anymore - but no popup-blocker installed!!!

O

owen

Suddenly my popup windows are not working. I have NOT installed ay
popup-blocking software. It's a problem on every web page that utilises
popups.

What's happening? It all worked fine yesterday!!!

I noticed at the same time other things have stopped working, like "Start ->
Search -> Files or Folders" from the taskbar.

I am using Win2000 Professional, IE6.2800.1106 / SP1.

Help!

You're Welcome, Owen. And let me know the feedback.

After reading the MS article, I decided to un-install, then re-install,
IE6 - and everything now works fine.)

I suspect, based on that MS article, that a 3rd party programme I installed
had somehow messed up the registry. Reinstalling IE6 has now corrected it.

Thanks again

Ramesh,

I have similar issues with XP Pro. You program seemed to have no effect.
How do you reload explorer 6 on XP? I ran sfc /scannow and that had no
effect. Any suggestions?

Mike, IEFix.exe is supposed to fix the hyperlinks. new window problems only.

To reinstall Internet Explorer in XP, try MSKB 318378:

I've removed and reinstalled explorer from control control paner and it
still doesn't work. It seems like most secure sites and a lot of regular
sites simply don't display. I get a blank page. Yet other browsers work
and this one used to also. I can't view the Dell home page.
