I tried rather clumsily to connect a Win2000 laptop to my
own computer by changing the System properties of the
laptop. I changed the domain of the laptop to a workgroup
with the same name as the workgroup on my computer, and
restarted the laptop. Now it is impossible to log on to
the laptop. The Domain field at the login window is gone,
and no known user of the laptop is possible to log in.

OPn the laptop there is an important PowerPoint
presentation (of course). And I am going to get flogged if
that Presentation wont be available within 12 hrs!!!

HELP PLEASE!

You need to enter the local administrator account name and password to access the
machine since it is no longer joined to the domain. You should contact your IT dept
ASAP and be very apologetic. --- Steve

Thankyou. Yes, I thought that could do the trick, but
the "IT-dept" of the Museum where the lap-top (my wifes)
comes from is not very competent (in fact nearly as
incompetent as I) and they don't have a clue about the
local administrators account password. Hopefully a
consultant knows, but we have no idea on when we might get
in contact with him, so I hoped there would be another way.
