Urgent help wanted Stop installation of XP

He is sitting in another town n is going awayMy brother has problems with IE n was going to reinstall it. But he managed to start a new installation of XP. Now he's afraid that all his photos and so on will dissapear. Does anyone know how to stop the installation. We've tried escape, ctrl +alt +delete , closed the computer manually and then restarted but everytime the computer asks for the CD and continues the installation. Don't remember if you get to a point where the program recognizes that XP already is installed and want you to continue?

He is living in another city n is going away for the holidays n was going to pay his bills by internet
 
Continue the install and he'll get an option to do a new install or repair,
choose repair.
