After a clean install of Windows XP (service pack 2) some fonts in Internet
Explorer 6, seems smudged and blurred. The fonts in question are bold ones.
All the others look very nice and sharp.

For example: The text on the far top right of this web page ''Other 45 sites
in Network'' and all the headings of the Ads by Google. Eg. ''Fix all
Windows Problems'', look smudged and blurred.

I have tried changing fonts from the tools in IE 6, but it doesn't help. The
fonts listed in my Internet Explorer are very few. How can I get the
necessary fonts to show in Internet Explorer 6?

I also installed fonts from controll panel > fonts> install from file
install fonts. There were some fonts missing in XP and they got installed,
but not all, accoriding to the list in windows info page at microsoft. Even
after that no new fonts got into the Internet Explorer.

Have tried the clear type tuner too. This doesn't help at all. Have tried
setting the fonts to clear type in the settings too.

I have tried various solutions nothing seems to help. I have done 5-6 clean
installs in the process :( .

Could somebody please help?

Clean Install ?
You installed mobo chipset and other hw drivers, eg video, from manu sites
or your sys cd's NOT win update?

All of it. On every reinstall, I formated and made partitions, to be sure to
that everything was deleted ever and then reinstalled windows XP. After that
I installed the drivers from the CD which came with the PC. I did all these
steps each time.

I have used the same installation CDs on previous clean installs. But now it
seems that the fonts are not getting copied from the CD. I think the problem
is that IE6 doesn't recognise the 'problem' fonts in the webpages.

I guess that the solution to this problem is to copy ALL the standard fonts
of windows xp and then get the nececcesary fonts copied to IE6. I don't know
how to do this. I located fontext.dll file in windows, but just clicking it
won't help :(. It is asking for a program to open the file. Since this is a
system file, i don't want to mess with it. (No, not scared about clean
installing again lol.... )
