UPS Service

I have an upgrade copy of XP Pro w/ SP1. I upgraded W2K
Pro, but opted to repartition my HDD - so, for all
practical purposes, I have a fresh install. The install
was successfull. After the install I successfully
installed all critical updates from the update site. My
problem: the UPS Service will not start. The message says
the service can't start because it was not correctly
installed. What gives?
 
Don't know if this is the reason, but in my experience, if the UPS is
connected via USB or RJ45 (Network), WinXP doesn't recognize it properly as
a UPS, where if I connect via serial port (COM?), then XP will recognize and
properly configure the UPS service - your mileage my vary :-)
