UPN Logon

Hi,

We have two domains, say corp.com and corp2.com. Corp.com is a Windows 2003
domain and corp2.com is still an NT domain. There are no trust relationship
between the two domains.

I have an issue with a mobile user using Windows XP, whose machine account
belongs to corp2.com,. However, we have setup a logon account for this user
on the corp.com domain using the UPN logon name of say (e-mail address removed).

When the user tries to use this account when trying to logon to the corp.com
domain, he gets the error message:

"The system could not log you on. Make sure your username and domain are
correct, then type your password again. Letters in passwords must be typed
using the correct case."

Can someone suggest a possible solution to this issue?

in this case, I would just logon local computer using the domain username. this post may help. quoted from http://www.howtonetworking.com/Q&A.htm
Q: How can my laptop connect to different domain?

I use Windows XP Pro on my laptop computer, at office I've made it a member of a Windows 2000 Active Directory Domain. I would also like to be able to make it a domain member of another domain at another site.

A: you may try netsh.exe and create trust relationship. However, as a consultant, I may work on different domains every day. So the netsh is not for me. I always create a username and password that match the domain username and password, and then logon local computer using that username. I can access most domain resources.

Don't send e-mail or reply to me except you need consulting services. Posting on MS newsgroup will benefit all readers and you may get more help.
