logon accross domains

Hello

Can anyone help with this teaser!
1. I have x2 2wk domains in separate forests with a one way trust setup
between them.

2. Users with accounts in the 1st domain can sit at a workstation in the 2nd
domain and successfully logon with a user account from the 1st domain, which
is ok.

3. Problem: The first time a user logs on to a w/s in domain 2 with an
account from domain 1 the logon takes approx 25-35 seconds. If the same
user logs off and then logs on again the logon is almost immediate.

4. Can the 1st logon attempt be speeded up?

5. Both domains have working AD integrated DNS servers and WINS servers.
(Users in either domain with domain accounts can logon the their local
domains ok, no time delay).

Both WINS server are replication partners, There is a secondary forward
lookup zone running in each domain. The secondary lookup zone accepts zone
transfers from the AD integrated zone form the others forest.

W/s os were the problem occurs is XP Prof sp1. all servers are w2k sp4 and
there is a router between the two domains, which are on separate networks.

Any Ideas

The system is likely transferring profiles to the new logon domain
from the workstation and setting domain policies from the new domain.
