while trying to upgrade from win98se to winxp pro I get a
fatal error say that I have an I/O device error. Now I am
in an XP installation loop, it doesn't give me te option
to revert back to my saved 98 settings, anyone know how to
get out of the installation?

HUMMM, normally when you get a DEVICE I/O ERROR, this is
an indication of hardware problems, either your controller
{IDE} or your hard drive has gone bad. I would go to your
HD manufacture and download there diagnostics utility,
after creating the disk boot off of it, if you get and I/O
error booting off of the floppy you have a bigger problem.
You could also try this, open your pc pull out your HD and
see if it is set as master, if not set it as so and try
again.
