Have you got a solution to this? I bought a new Toshiba
laptop recently with XP Home Edition included but I
already have a copy of XP Pro. When I tried to install
this it came up with various errors (including not
allowing me to set up a connection to the internet) and I
could not find a way around them. I refreshed the whole
thing and XP Home works ok.

Problem is that I need access to IIS now and potentially
other aspects of XP Pro. Do you know of a problem in
upgrading XP Home to XP Pro? I would rather not have to
refresh my laptop all over again but if there is a
solution then it would help immensely.

Cheers.

Oh, and I forgot to mention...one reason I need to
install Windows XP Pro over the Home edition is because
the initial installation came with several pieces of
software specific for my laptop and I only have the
software to install everything en-masse.

Otherwise I would just have started from scratch...simple.

I think you will have to consult Toshiba. A general problem with
laptops is their having custom hardware that needs customised modules of
the system to go with it. And this is quite likely to hit inbuilt modem
or ethernet connections needed for the Internet

You'll need to go to Toshiba's website and download the drivers for all
the hardware. You'll need to format the hard drive and install a retail
copy of XP Pro. Then install the drivers, programs from cd's, and
restore your data from backup. This will probably void your warranty on
the laptop, of course.
