I am using Windows ME and would like to upgrade to XP. If
I upgrade will I lose Outlook Express Address Book or any
other documents?

Hi Earlo,

Usually not, but sometimes they get placed under another profile. I'd still
suggest backing them up first, use the steps here:

This may help if they get misplaced:

Usually not, but you will have to search for them and import into OE, XP
stores that info in a different location and they won't be placed there when
you upgrade. After upgrading to XP enable search to find hidden files and
search for *.dbx files (your emails) and *.wab (your address book). Note the
location of the files, then using the import feature in OE import these
files.
If you do a clean install all files will be lost. On any upgrade it would be
a good idea to back up vital files before the upgrade.

Greetings --

You should, before proceeding, take a few minutes to ensure that
there are WinXP device drivers available for all of the machine's
components. There may not be, if the PC was specifically designed for
Win98. Also bear in mind that PCs designed for and sold with Win9x/Me
very often do not meet WinXP's much more stringent hardware quality
requirements. This is particularly true of many models in Compaq's
consumer-class Presario product line or HP's consumer-class Pavilion
product line. WinXP, like WinNT and Win2K before it, is quite
sensitive to borderline defective hardware (particularly motherboards,
RAM and hard drives) that will still support Win9x.
