upgrading to XP from ME

At 61 minutes left on installation. I get a message that
states that XP cannot read from or write on drive C. I
then have to exit installation. HELP!

as partition magic or factory overlay from oem.

you must repartition and do a clean install.

Well, that should be enough for extracting the setup files and installing. You may want to run scandisk from the Me installation, in thorough (surface check mode) to rule out a hard drive problem.
