Upgrading to XP from 98

Mark Ronald

Hello,
I recently purchased a used Dell Workstation 210 from
someone I work with. The computer has Win 98 installed on
it, and I would like to upgrade to XP. Should I Purchase
an upgrade CD or full installation CD? I do have the Win
98 CD that is installed on the computer.
Thanks

yes and yes
just get the upgrade CD boot up and incert the CD.
you may have 98 on a prewinstall form dell, some of the
older PC's dont have this so you may not have the pre
install

All you need is the 98 cd. You don't need the 98 operating system installed.
I recently did this. During the XP install it asked me for verification and
so I put the old 98 CD in my DVD drive and hit enter and it went ahead with
the XP install. I assume if you just have one CD drive you can swap the 98
and XP disks in and out at this step.
