upgrading from XP Home to XP Pro

hello,
I have a new Sony Vaio, w-510g.
it come with XP Home. I need to do some IIS dev. I want
to upgrade to XP Pro.
When I upgrade, It gets stuck in a loop. the message "
out of virtual memory keeps copming up then it restarts...

I am in need of assistance. What do I need to do without
a full format of the drive?
I have tried the upgrade and full install options...

Go to the Sony website and get the instructions for upgrading the operating
system. Also, are you aware that this will probably void your warranty?
