Upgrading from windows 98

The upgrade I bought is Windows xp home edition. I have
Windows 98 on the computer I bought about 4 yrs. ago.
In reading the info on the box it says it is for PCs
without windows or PCs with windows 95 or earlier versions.
Will it work on my machine?
The system requirements seem ok but I can't find if I have
Super VGA (800x600) or higher resolution video adapter and
monitor.
Should I install or return the product?

You apparently bought the full and not the upgrade version of Windows
XP.
What you bought will work fine for an upgrade on your computer also.
