Upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 using Windows Mail

Upgrading from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 and using Windows Mail, does
the upgrade preserve the mail folders and Windows Mail untouched, or is
Windows Mail removed so I have to do a backup of the mail folders before the
upgrade and install a new mail program (Outlook or WLM) after the upgrade?
I prefer to continue with Windows Mail and have previously tried to get used
to WLM without success.

Your Windows Mail data will be archived during the upgrade to Win7.

That being said, note that Win7 does not include any default Mail Client
(e.g., Windows Mail; Windows Live Mail).

If you will be installing Windows Live Mail in Win7, I'd recommend switching
to Windows Live Mail in Vista first to ease the transition.

If you will be purchasing and installing Outlook 2007 in Win7, I'd recommend
installing it in Vista now and then exporting your Windows Mail data to
Outlook 2007 before upgrading. If you only install Outlook in Win7, you
will NOT be able to migrate the archived Windows Mail data into Outlook.

You'll find support for Windows Live Mail (WLMail) in this public newsgroup:

Windows Mail is normally located at
C:\Users\<yourloginaccount>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail

It should be archived wherever you backed it up.
