Upgrading from NT 4 to Windows 2000

Would you pls. help me to provide STEP-By-Step procedure
to upgrade NT 4 to Windows 2000 Server.

We have to NT Server PDC and BDC with 200 user, the BDC
have Exchange 5.5 - we want to upgrade both servers to
Windows 2000 with exchange 5.5 to upgrade to Exchnage
2000. With Minimum Downtime.

We have critical ERP JDWdwards running on PDC and
Exhcnage 5.5 runnig on BDC.

Appreciate if could help us to provide step by step
procedure for both NT 4 to W2000 and in BDC NT 4 to 2000
ADN Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000.

Hello. Are you sure you want to do an in-place upgrade and not an migration?
How ever for a sucessfully upgrade start to upgrade the NT4.0 PDC to Windows
2000. Then you can start to upgrade Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000. at last
upgrade the NT4.0 BDC to Windows2000. You now running all Domain Controllers
at Windows2000 and should raise the domain mode to Windows2000 Native to
take use of new fetures such Nesting Groups, SidHistory and so on.

Try this ... install a new machine as BDC (install NT on it). Then make THAT
machine the PDC (which will automatically make the ERP machine BDC). Then
upgrade THAT machine to Win2000.

Now you are running a Win2000 domain; your ERP program can continue to run
on th OS and hardware that you know works; and you can then upgrade/migrate
the ERP and Ex 5.5 at a more leisurely, planned pace.
