upgrading from basic to premium

i upgraded from xp to basic and now i'm thinking about getting premium,if i
upgrade to it can i give my home basic upgrade for a family member to use? if
so do i have to uninstall it from my computer first? also if i uninstall it
will i lose all my saved things. TY

No. When you do any kind of Upgrade, the license for what you are
upgrading from gets incorporated as part of the license for what you
upgrade to. That's the reason the Upgrade license is cheaper than the
Full one--you end up with one license, not two.

Windows XP is a qualifier for upgrade to any version of Windows Vista.
You may cause yourself problems if you use the Anytime Upgrade option.
But if you purchase Windows Vista Home Premium Upgrade, all should be
OK for you to move the Windows Vista Basic to another computer as long
as Home Basic is retail and not OEM.
This also assumes you still have the media to install Windows XP.
