Upgrading from 98 to xp

During the upgrade there were some files that couldn't be
copied so I would skip them. At the end xp wouldn't start
up, is there any way to patch in those missing files
without recovering 98 and upgrading to xp again? I found
all the missing files on my other machine running xp and
put them on a cd.
