Upgrading from 98 to XP

I am choosing to upgrade rather than a clean install. When the setup
reaches the Install section after rebooting, an error message appears
which says file c:\$win_nt$.~ls\i386\asms is not the same as install
file. It also says that there is a santax error on line 21 of c:\same
as above\6000\msft\vcrtl\vcrtl.man. Thanks for any help.

Are you using an authentic Microsoft Windows XP CD
with the edge-to-edge hologram image? Or are you
using a copied Windows XP CD? If the later, you
probably have a bad/incomplete CD burn.

To resolve this issue, use another Windows XP CD-ROM
to install Windows XP. If this option is not available to you,
contact the Microsoft Order Desk to order replacement media
from Microsoft.

In the United States, contact the Microsoft Order Desk at the following phone number:

I am using the edge-to-edge hologram CD. I could try to use the XP cd
that came with my dell, but it is pretty old.
