Upgraded from 2003 to 2007 and emails sit in outbox

I just updated from Outlook 2003 to 2007 yesterday.

When I send emails in Outlook 2007 from one of my existing email accounts,
they sit in my Outbox. I checked the account settings and tried to send a
test message and received "None of the authentication methods supported by
this client are supported by your server."

Per some of the posts here, I've tried two things. 1) Checked the setting
to log into my incoming mail server first to send messages. When I did this,
the test message was successful. I then tried to send emails from this
account and they sit in my outbox still (even after closing and re-opening
outlook).

2) I unchecked the settings that any authentication was needed to send
emails for this account. When I did this, the test message was still
successful. I then tried to send emails from this account and they still
stil in my outbox (even after closing and re-opening outlook).

Here is something I noticed. Some of the emails will leave the outbox (if
addressed to an MSN.com address or one of my other POP3 accounts I have set
up in Outlook 2007.) Others, one in particular address to an sbcglobal.net
address will never go not matter what I try. All these message contain the
exact same body for this test. And it appears that emails with more than
one address will not leave the outbox.

Anyone have any idea as to what might be going on besides the
"authentification" method settings? I've used Outlook 2003 for years and
never had a problem with this account and now that I've upgraded to 2007, I
can't seem to figure out why some emails for this one account sit in the
outbox.

More information: The Send/Receive status in Outlook says "completed" but
the Outlook send/receive status indicator in the task tray blinks like crazy
showing that it's trying to send these message.

HELP! Thanks - Rhonda

Very Very Interesting! Here is what I tried and the email got sent:

The email with three addresses that was just sitting in my outbox no matter
what settings I tried was addressed with email address that had "common
names" in front of them from my Contact Address Book. When I composed the
emails (several times for my tests, I allowed Outlook to automatically
complete the email address which included their common name (for example "joe
([email protected]" and "bob ([email protected]").

When I tried the message again with just "(e-mail address removed)" and "(e-mail address removed)"
the message was immediately sent.

What does this mean now for me? 1) Does Outlook 2007 not support sending
emails to addresses with a common name in front of it as saved in Contacts?
OR 2) Does Outlook 2007 not support email address auto completions carried
over from Outlook 2003 when composing a new email?

I just tried sending a few emails with common names in front of them to
various addresses that Outlook 2007 completed for me when composing and they
were sent. Could it be that Outlook 2007 has a problem resolving email
address with common names when more than one email address exists on the same
Contact record? The email I had problems with had two email address that
were strored in Email 1 and Email 2 on the same contact record.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas because this could get annoying
if I have to remember specific ways to get my emails to go out.

Thanks - Rhonda

This is all a bit disturbing.

Meanwhile, despite archiving, the whole application slows down my top of the
range computer every time it sends and receives (despite the patch).

The thing about emails getting stuck in the outbox means that one cannot
rely on Outlook 2007 to send urgent emails in the course of a day.

This would all suggest that it is a problem with Outlook consolidating its
address books.

Can Microsoft release a patch???!

I am having exactly the same problem. I have 3 e-mail accounts. My
Googlemail, Orange Home & My Hospital Radio Email.

Googlemail is always ok, its just my orangehome & Hospital Radio ones that
are affected. Really odd.

Microsoft...PLEASE HELP! Send Us A Patch!!!!!

After researching again, here is what it looks like is happening. Hopes this
gets us closer to a fix!

When letting Outlook 2007 auto-complete an email address that was used
previously in 2003, the email address is formatted as 'bob ([email protected])'.
Note the single apostrophes around the address. This email will sit in the
outbox.

When choosing the contact from the address book (instead of auto-completing
as above), the email address is formatted as bob ([email protected]). This
formatting has no apostrophes and this email will immediately be sent from
the outbox (even bypassing the ones sitting there with the stupid apostrophes.

Will there be a fix to this to do we have to delete each "auto-completion"?
It's hard to tell which auto-completion address is incorrect as you won't see
the apostrophes until the email is already hung up in the outbox.
